The Purpose of Conscious Transformation
Consciousness is no exception to evolution, which is Mother Nature's form of transformation. Single cell life appeared on Earth about 3.8 billion years ago. Human beings have been walking upright and using their opposing thumbs for about 3.2 billion years. Doing the math, then, consciousness evolved from the unity of undifferentiated electron sparks collected in atoms composing a single cell to the totally separated self-consciousness of a multi-layered, intricate human organism in a mere 0.6 billion years. Considering that the Big Bang1 apparently happened only 14 to 15 billion years ago, that’s pretty fast evolution by the cosmic standard of Eternity. By human standards, the time lapse is incomprehensible, but the fact remains that consciousness as we experience it is a result of natural evolution.
However it happened, we humans have arrived with a mobile physical body containing a consciousness of willful and independent intelligence. Our independence comes from the volition and will aspects of the self-conscious mind. We can choose to think, believe, speak, and act in ways that either oppose or enhance most of our instinctual animal drives. We can will ourselves to think and do things that harm or help our physical organism, our mind, and other human beings. Our physical gray-matter brain is simply the naturally evolving organ through which all layers of Mind operate.
Look at it this way: basically, we are living in an animal body with instincts geared for survival and propagation of the species. In that sense, we are MASS: finite in form and liable to destruction and re-formation into dust at any given moment. But we are not our physical mass bodies. "We" inhabit our bodies, and the "we," the "I" that is conscious of having a body is pure ENERGY - of the infinite and eternal variety. Recall the theory of the Superstring2 vibratory universe where everything is always connected to everything else. Well, we are connected, body and mind, to everything else, because we, too, are composed of superstrings.
The real frontier for human beings is to experience being connected to everything else infinitely and eternally. It’s called Enlightenment, Nirvana, Bliss, God-consciousness. That Supra-Conscious3 experience will irrevocably change the way any incarnate human lives. Indeed, we must change in order to attain the experience. That's where "Conscious Transformation" enters the picture.
Transformation happening naturally is known as evolution. Evolution has transformed the human organism into a self-conscious entitiy. Using the potency of consciousness, the human being can willfully accelerate evolution of both physical body and metaphysical consciousness. Acceleration of consciousness is called spiritual growth and many other names. Use the name endorsed by your favorite spiritual organization and study the instructions given, the method described, the path to follow, and discover the practices necessary to achieve Enlightenment.
We can’t depend on having an automatic, natural Enlightenment4 because we inhabit a limited body of 5 senses and have a culturally developed personality telling us: "dumb-dumb, don’t you see you are separate from everything else?" Compound the misleading perception of separation with an automatic egocentric Unconscious Mind interpreting all 5 sense monitors exclusively from the survival point-of-view of an animal body, and we easily see that we are hooked into a vicious cycle: a self-centered "I" consciousness reacting to an automatic un-conscious running exclusively on pleasure/pain/survival interpretation of life’s circumstances. And off we go on another karmic life-cycle.
Thus, most people’s personalities grow inward, wrapped up in themselves as if nothing else in the universe were worthy of thought. "More" and "better" material comfort temporarily assuages their survival mentality and makes the fear disappear. But it comes back. The physically oriented personality again experiences fear and insecurity, cycling into acquiring even more and better material wealth or prestige.
The simple Truth is that fear and insecurity are unnecessary, for we are immortal spiritual beings who never cease to be. The KNOWING of that Truth is one object of Conscious Transformation. Concentrated within this flesh are electro-magnetic receivers and transmitters of infinite frequencies, able to transcend all planes of existence. They are embedded in our liquids and our solids, of which there are almost infinite varieties of viscosity, density, porosity, and chemical bonding. And there are chemicals and energies comprising our flesh that modern science has yet to develop the instruments to detect. Developing our hidden powers enables us to live full and sacred human lives secure in the Light of Immortality. THAT, in itself, is a worthy purpose of conscious transformation, but more is necessary to make it happen.
The Holy Spirit, our Spiritual Being, is The Fire Within, is the Supra-Conscious in all our bodies5 manifesting as the atoms and sub-atomic particles composed of the spiral superstrings of all things visible and invisible. That Holy Spirit embodies our flesh and our minds and is naught but a vibration in a universal matrix of infinite vibrations. Seen and unseen, we are at all times in intimate relationship with the entire universe, eternally.
Biological evolution gives the human being limited sensory receptors and a brain-mind capable of perceiving limited degrees of matter that is not us. That minimal perception gives us self-awareness: the ability to differentiate between our visible body and other bodies swimming in the universal matrix so we can survive. Contrary to appearances, we are at all times, and have always been, connected to everything in the universe. This electromagnetic Holy flesh we walk around in is both antenna and transceiver for all frequencies, and everything we think, say, or do affects the entire universe, however minuscule. Like a stone dropped in the ocean makes waves to the edges of everywhere, so our thoughts, words and actions make infinite changes in etheric matter, eternally.
Our perceptions may be limited, but our connections are limitless, as are our INNATE abilities to use that which our 5 senses do not perceive. All we have to do is consciously develop our latent physical organs which CAN register vibrational energy beyond the 5 senses: "eyes to see and ears to hear." You, the reader, already possess the faith6 necessary to approach a Path to Conscious Transformation or you wouldn’t have read this far. You KNOW, on some level of your being, that somewhere deep inside, you possess the ability to make connections and transformations you cannot now perceive -- that’s faith.
Conscious Transformation demands that we forge through our veil of flesh and realize, deeper than bone, that we are Immortal Beings inhabiting mortal bodies. Nature can't do that for us, in any sense but having already provided us with self-conscious will and volition. We must willfully perform the actions that cause Spiritual Transformation.
When we set out on a Path of Conscious Transformation, not only do we experience profound individual change, but our inner transformation initiates change in all kingdoms on the planet, because, guess what, we are all connected. The individual attainment of experiential unity (Supra-Consciousness) -- THAT volitional attainment advances the spiritual evolution of ALL humanity and the physical evolution of ALL kingdoms on ALL planes, because, listen up: we are ALL connected and all constructed from the same lacy stuff as the stars. The advancement of humanity toward attaining the peace that passes all understanding begins with the advancement of a single being -- and THAT'S the ulterior motive for consciously stoking up The Fire Within and sacrificing our egocentricism. Personal transformation is the humanitarian service we consciously perform for all of the universe. THAT'S the purpose of conscious transformation, which the human kingdom alone can perform.
With knowledge and intention to serve the universe by following a path of conscious transformation, we give selfless service and thereby usher humanity into the spiritual kingdom.
